Systems Engineer
Flightradar24 is the world’s most popular flight tracking service. We are a successful and profitable Swedish founded global company. More than 4 million people use our website and mobile apps every day.
Now and then, when global aviation events occur, our traffic can easily increase by an order of magnitude. Using technologies like FreeBSD / HAproxy together with BGP and ECMP enabled us to manage unexpected increases in load. This was one of the key components that helped us obtain the Guinness World Record for most tracked flight in history.
In addition to our systems and cloud infrastructure we also operate a globally distributed network of 40,000 Raspberry Pi-based radio receivers, feeding real-time aircraft data into our platform.

About Flightradar24
Flightradar24 started as a hobby project in 2006 when two Swedish aviation geeks decided to build a network of ADS-B receivers in Northern and Central Europe. In 2009 we opened up the network, and made it possible for anyone with an ADS-B receiver to upload data to the network. Many parts of the world were quickly covered, but the quest to provide global ADS-B coverage is still ongoing.
Flightradar24 at a glance
- Largest ADS-B network in the world with over 40,000 connected receivers
- 4+ million users per day
- 50+ million app downloads
